Note from Chairman, Mr Paul Edgar
It is with pleasure that I welcome you all to the 2010 season at Portadown Cricket Club. Last year can only be described as mixed for the club, with the 1st eleven failing to consolidate their position in Section 3 and after a long and hard fought battle, succumbing once again to relegation. An early loss of some senior players was felt strongly throughout the teams and impacted on some second’s fixtures which had to be forfeited, without play, during August. The atrocious weather also contributed to the dificulties and meant that it was impossible to finish the match schedule, with a consequent loss of points. The determination with which the last few matches were played however, is a testament to the spirit of the playing members and one which bodes well for the success of the club this season. Cricket was enjoyed at every level of the club and our resolve to continue, and indeed to expand our remit in the town, remains strong. Portadown Cricket Club is a member club of the Northern Cricket Union of ireland and is affiliated to the Craigavon Sports Advisory Council and the Southern Sports Partnership. Our aim is to provide people of all ages with a opportunity to participate in a healthy outdoor recreational activity and to develop both personal and team skills in every cricket discipline. To this end we encourage old and new playing and supporting members to participate this season and assure you that we will strive to provide a friendly and inclusive environment in which to enjoy the sport. Your continued involvement and support is appreciated. Paul
